Volunteer Opportunities with SkatePace.tv
SkatePace TV is a project of Northern Access Television and Skate Victoria Speed Branch, offering a unique coverage of Inline Speed Skating events in Melbourne.
Right now, with a major National event in the sport coming to Melbourne in January, we are looking for interested people to join our volunteer team, with the aim of expanding our YouTube coverage of Speed Skating to Community TV early in the new year.
Most shoots take place on weekends and public holidays at Dandenong Showgrounds, but also from time to time at other venues all around Melbourne.
Interviewer / Presenter We need an Interviewer / Presenter to conduct location interviews and present "linking pieces" to camera at major Speed events. An interest in learning about the sport of Speed Skating and an ability to follow and understand the action is a must in this role. This role would suit someone looking to get a start in Sports Reporting.
Camera Operators We also need people to fill the role of "Second Camera Operators". These volunteers would be responsible for working with the Presenters / Interviewers to shoot interviews for the Community TV show and YouTube. Camera Operators should have a basic understanding of how to shoot videos using an external microphone, and be willing to monitor the recorded sound on headphones for potential problems while shooting. Either bring your own Mini DV or Digital 8 camera, or use a basic camera we can supply.
Volunteer Benefits at SkatePace - NAT uniform shirts and caps supplied by Producer (after working on a few shoots). - Learn to improve your camerawork whilst performing a valuable volunteer role. - All tape stock is provided and preserved. - Work with a friendly bunch of participants in the Speed Events and Production Crew. - Opportunities to progress to other roles within Northern Access TV if desired. - Membership of Northern Access TV is not compulsory, but is preferred
Requirements - Volunteers are required to complete a Victorian Working With Children check.
